The magic ring, or disk, of Solomon is a tool described in the Lesser Key of Solomon for the purpose of protecting oneself against the Lower spirits by means of the names of god inscribed thereon: TETRAGRAMMATON, ANAPHAXETON, MICHAEL (I am unsure if this last name refers to god still, or the archangel himself). The Stele of Revealing is an important icon in the, "religion" of Thelema. It was through this Stele, allegedly originally found in an antique shop in Cairo, that Aleister Crowley recieved the dictation of Liber Al Vel Legis from a being who called himself Aiwass, a being believed to be Crowley's Holy Guardian Angel. The story I had heard is this: Crowley and his wife Rose were vacationing in Cairo, perusing an antique shop, when Rose mentioned that she was hearing an apparition speak to her, one by the name of Horus. Crowley then, knowing that his wife had only a surface level knowledge of the ancient Egyptian pantheon, asked her to point out Horus on the various iconography diaplayed in the shop. To his surprise, she walked past all the more recognizable images of the deity, and stopped at the stele represented above. The pair would then decide to take the Stele back back to their hotel room, and for three nights, Crowley and Rose would allegedly recieve and pen The Book of the Law.
